I’ve heard it said that it takes one million words before a writer finally finds their ‘voice’ and is able to tell the stories that are in their head the best way possible. With this in mind, I have made it a part of my regular writing continually hone my craft.
And so, over the years, I’ve seen my style and voice improve. One of the biggest places where I’ve practiced my craft has been in fanfiction. Using the worlds and characters from others has helped me focus on other parts of my story telling. Even now, while I am creating original stories, I still aim to keep practicing, to keep learning.
And as fanfiction has been such a big part of my writing life for so long, I want to keep working in that forum, and especially as so many of my fans found me through that forum. Below is a summary for each of my fanfiction stories:
The Cupboard Series:
Book 1: The Cupboard Under the Stairs
A mysterious green inked letter banished Harry from his cupboard. But does taking the boy out of the cupboard also mean that you’ve taken the cupboard out of the boy? A first year fic.
Book 2: Hermione’s Book Nook
Even bars on the window, locks on the door and a demented house-elf can’t keep Harry away from his friends. The Ministry hearing, though, might be a different story. And then there’s that letter from his dad … A second year fic.
Book 3: Potter Haven
After the disastrous events at King’s Cross Station at the end of Harry and Hermione’s second year, Harry’s been expelled from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and is now on the run. Hunted by the Ministry of Magic and Albus Dumbledore alike, Harry must somehow learn to survive alone while at the same time continuing his magical education. The third year of Harry and Hermione’s magical education.
Book 4: The Fourth School
The TriWizard Tournament has been revived and the three largest and most prestigious schools in Europe are due to compete – Hogwarts, Beauxbatons and Durmstrang. And in a mark of respect, the newest and smallest school in not only Britain but also all of Europe, has been invited to watch. If only things were that simple. The fourth year of Harry and Hermione’s magical education.
Book 5: United We Stand …
Lord Voldemort has risen. The Minister of Magic is dead. War has been declared. Now is the time for those of the Light to unite, for to do so will give them a chance to stand, to face the Darkness and to survive. For we all know what happens to those who are divided …
Book 6: Castle Voldemort
Hogwarts has fallen. In its place stands Castle Voldemort. With the Hogwarts students held hostage, the Ministry has surrendered. All of magical Britain is now under the rule of Lord Voldemort. All, that is, but for those few at Diricawl Academy of Magical Studies. But what can so few really do against such odds?
Book 7: Graduation Day
Seven years ago, Harry Potter was taken from the cupboard under the stairs and thrust into the wizarding world. His first magic school, Hogwarts, didn’t work out, so, together with some new friends, Harry founded his own – Diricawl Academy of Magical Studies. They’ve learnt a lot and even saved the wizarding world from an evil Dark Lord. Now, it’s finally time to graduate.
Book 1: Muggle-Raised Champion
The day before Harry Potter was due to go to Hogwarts for the very first time, his aunt and uncle informed him that he wouldn’t be going. Instead, he was sent to Stonewall High. Now, three years later, the Goblet of Fire has named him as a TriWizard Champion. What that means is anyone’s guess, but to Harry, one thing is clear: he can finally get away from Privet Drive. Not a part of the Cupboard Under the Stairs Series.
Book 2: Harry Potter, Dragon Whisperer
Being a parselmouth, Harry is hired by all of the Dragon Sanctuaries. His new job: to travel the world, check on all the dragons, talk to them and learn about them. The dragons have also heard of Harry’s talent – as an artist and they can be pushy about having their portrait painted. With dragons, magizoologists and shades of Dark Lords after him, Harry’s life is anything but dull.
Other Harry Potter Stories:
A Sorting Like No Other
The Sorting Hat (or Brian to his friends) has had enough of being told by Albus-Too-May-Names Dumbledore exactly how certain new students should be sorted. He’s seen the four great Houses of Hogwarts decline from what The Founders had once envisioned them to be. For once, he’s going to take matters into his own, um, hands? The incoming class of 1991 isn’t going to know what hit them. Get ready for a Sorting like no other. One shot. Not a part of my Cupboard Series.
After five years travelling the world, Harry Potter has landed in New York. He figures that there’s no better place than the city that never sleeps to settle in and forge a new life. If only the heroes, villains, aliens and spies had received the message. Begins just before the Avengers movie and continues through the MCU. Expect a long story with some extra faces along the way.
Heroes Assemble! The Ghost of Bengalla
When pirates of the Singh Brotherhood attack and seize a cargo ship full of weapons off of the coast of Bengalla, S.H.I.E.L.D. send in Agent Phil Coulson to deal with the situation. Bengalla, though, has their own protector, one who has been combatting these pirates for nearly 500 years. It’s time for Coulson to meet a new hero. A story set in the universe of ‘Heroes Assemble!’ One-shot.
